Annie Sprinkle, born Ellen F. Steinberg on July 23, 1954 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, worked in adult film from 1974 to the mid-1990s, became known in the 1980s for feminist, sex-positive pornography including Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle (1981), earned a PhD in human sexuality in 1996, and with partner Beth Stephens co-founded the ecosexuality movement.
